Cody Felker was part of a group of inmates convicted in a failed attempt to break out of the Adams County Jail in May, 2019, as confirmed by Adams County States Attorney Todd Eyler

QUINCY The man who police say tried to get away from officers on his electric bicycle earlier in September has a trial date now scheduled for December in the Adams County Circuit Court.

Cody Felker, 36, is charged with aggravated fleeing and possession of methamphetamine, less than five grams, both Class 3 Felonies, punishable by a maximum of two to ten years.

He has a previous conviction of eluding an officer in 2018 and was part of a group of inmates who plotted to escape the Adams County Jail in 2019, after jailers discovered that the inmates had dug and scraped mortar away to remove structural bricks from a jail cell wall.

Adams County States Attorney Todd Eyler has confirmed to Muddy River News the defendants notorious history and noted that after Felker pleaded guilty and received 24 months of probation, he was sent to prison for three years, following violations of his probation.

During his Tuesday hearing, the court noted some other pending charges involving drug possession and resisting an officer against Felker, raising the possibility that if convicted, he could be sentenced consecutively, or one after the other.

At last report, Felker remains in custody with hearings on one set of charges scheduled for October and with the most recent charges in November.
