Dr. Allison Mayfield Joins Blessing Health System in Homecoming

QUINCY � For Allison Mayfield, M.D., joining Blessing Health System is more than the next step in her career. It is a homecoming.

Born and raised in Quincy, Dr. Mayfield is returning to her hometown to provide orthopedic care with a focus on sports medicine. She enjoys helping patients of all ages understand their conditions, consider both surgical and non-surgical treatment options and return to the activities that are important to them.

�Injuries can be incredibly disruptive to a person�s life,� Dr. Mayfield noted in a press release. �Helping patients navigate that process and return to the activities they enjoy is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.�

Dr. Mayfield attended St. Peter School and Quincy Notre Dame High School before earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She earned her medical degree and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

She completed an orthopedic surgery sports medicine fellowship through the University of Chicago and NorthShore University, where she trained under team physicians for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Sky and Chinese Olympic Volleyball team. Dr. Mayfield has also provided team physician coverage for high school, collegiate and junior hockey athletes. She holds board certification with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
